About IGNOU PGDHE – Post Graduate Diploma in Higher Education
This specialized programme focuses on the nuances of teaching, research, and administration in the higher education sector, preparing educators for professional excellence. Completing and submitting assignments on time is mandatory as they are a crucial component of the continuous evaluation process required for passing. Without successful assignment submission, students are not eligible to appear for the Term End Examination in their respective courses.
IGNOU PGDHE Assignments Overview
The evaluation system in the Post Graduate Diploma in Higher Education consists of two main parts: continuous evaluation through assignments and terminal evaluation through exams. These assignments carry 30% weightage toward the final grade for each course in the programme. Students must submit all required assignments before the Term End Examination to become eligible to sit the exam and receive their results. Each assignment is known as a TMA (Tutor Marked Assignment), which assesses your understanding of the Self Learning Material. For the PGDHE programme, students are typically required to complete one comprehensive assignment for every course code they have registered for.
IGNOU follows two academic cycles, the January session and the July session, and assignments are released accordingly for 2026. It is vital to download the specific assignment booklet that applies to your current TEE cycle to ensure you are answering the correct questions. The session validity for these assignments is clearly mentioned on the cover page of the question paper for 2026. If a student misses the submission deadline for their particular session, they lose that attempt and must resubmit the new assignments released for the next session cycle.
Every response must be original and handwritten by the student to demonstrate a genuine grasp of the subject matter. Plagiarism, which includes copying from study materials, internet sources, or other students’ work, is strictly prohibited in the IGNOU context and can lead to cancellation of marks. Your handwritten work is evaluated by the Study Centre coordinator or appointed evaluators who award marks based on the quality and depth of your answers. These marks are later updated on the official grade card after the evaluation process is complete.

How to Submit IGNOU PGDHE Assignments
The submission process begins with writing your answers clearly by hand on A4 size ruled or plain paper. Every assignment must have a proper cover page that includes your enrollment number, name, full address, programme code, and course code. You must also include the study centre code and the date of submission on this front sheet. Carefully arrange all your answer sheets in the correct numerical order of the questions before stapling or binding them together.
Most students choose physical submission by visiting their assigned Study Centre in person and handing over the hard copies. Some Regional Centres may allow online submission via a dedicated Google Form or portal link; you should check your Regional Centre’s website for specific instructions. After submitting, always remember to collect a submission receipt from the coordinator as it serves as proof of your work. You can check if your marks are updated on the IGNOU portal by visiting the official Assignment Status page after a few months.
The deadline for the June TEE cycle is typically in March or April of 2026. For students appearing in the December TEE, the deadline is usually in September or October of 2026. It is highly recommended to submit at least two weeks before the last date to avoid any last-minute technical or logistical issues at the centre. Always keep a photocopy or a scanned digital copy of your handwritten assignments for your own records until the marks reflect on your grade card.
How to Prepare IGNOU PGDHE Assignments
To score high marks, read the questions very carefully and identify exactly what is being asked in each section. Always refer to the official Self Learning Material (SLM) provided by the university but ensure you write the answers in your own words rather than copying text directly. Using relevant examples from higher education settings can make your answers more practical and impressive to the evaluator.
