About IGNOU Admissions
IGNOU conducts admissions twice a year — the January session and the July session. Students can apply online through the official IGNOU admission portal. The university offers over 200 programmes across certificate, diploma, undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels.

📋 How to Apply for IGNOU Admission
IGNOU admissions are entirely online. The process is straightforward but requires attention to deadlines and document requirements. Follow the steps below to complete your application without errors.
Step 1 — Check eligibility. Before starting your application, verify the eligibility criteria for your chosen programme. Each programme page on this site lists the minimum qualification required — for example, a 10+2 pass for most undergraduate programmes and a bachelor’s degree for postgraduate programmes. Applying without meeting the eligibility criteria will result in rejection.
Step 2 — Visit the online admission portal. Go to onlineadmission.ignou.ac.in and click on Register to create a new account. You will need a valid mobile number and email address. Use details that you have regular access to, as all future communications including your enrollment number will be sent to these contacts.
Step 3 — Fill in the application form. Log in with your registered credentials and select your programme. Fill in all personal, academic, and address details carefully. Errors in name spelling or date of birth are common mistakes that cause problems later — enter details exactly as they appear in your qualifying certificates.
Step 4 — Upload required documents. Scan and upload the required documents. These typically include your age proof, educational qualification certificates, identity proof such as Aadhaar, a recent passport size photograph, and your signature on a white background. Each file must be within the size limits specified on the portal — usually under 200KB per document.
Step 5 — Pay the programme fee. After uploading documents, proceed to fee payment. IGNOU accepts payment via net banking, debit card, credit card, and UPI. Save the payment receipt immediately after successful payment. This receipt serves as proof of admission until your enrollment number is issued.
Step 6 — Track your admission status. After submission, track your admission status on the IGNOU ISMS portal at isms.ignou.ac.in using your application number. Enrollment numbers are typically issued within a few weeks of the admission window closing.
