About IGNOU BFSW – Bachelor of Social Work
This course teaches students how to help people deal with social, emotional, and economic challenges in their daily lives. It prepares learners for professional roles where they work with communities, families, and individuals to improve their well-being through organized support and welfare services.
Who Should Choose This Programme?
If you are a compassionate person living in a rural or urban area and want to help solve local problems like poverty, lack of education, or health issues, this degree is for you. It is perfect for people who want to work for NGOs or government welfare schemes but need a professional degree to get hired. Even if you are already working as a volunteer and want to get a formal qualification to grow in your career, this programme fits your needs.
Why Do Students Choose This Programme?
Most students choose this because they can study while staying in their home town without moving to a big city. The fees are very low at around 18,300 rupees for the whole course, which is much cheaper than private colleges. Since it is a UGC-recognized degree, students know they can apply for government jobs or a Master’s degree later. The practical field work also ensures that students don’t just read books but actually go out and learn how to help people in real life.
Where Does This Programme Help?
After finishing this course, you can apply for jobs in many places like the Child Welfare Committee, District Social Welfare Office, or private hospitals. You can work as a Community Mobilizer, Social Worker, or Project Assistant in organizations like Childline, Helpage India, or local foundations. Many graduates also find work in the CSR departments of companies like Tata Motors or Reliance, where they help manage village development projects.
