About IGNOU CCR – Certificate in Community Radio
This course teaches you how to run a local radio station that focuses on community issues rather than commercial music or news. You will learn the technical side of recording audio and the creative side of making programs that speak to people in rural areas or small towns.
Who Should Choose This Programme?
If you are a volunteer at a local NGO or a social worker who wants to use audio to help people in your village or town, this course is for you. It is also a great fit for someone who has finished school and wants to learn how a radio studio works without spending lakhs on a big media degree. If you enjoy talking to people and want to share stories about local farming, health, or education, you will find this very useful.
Why Do Students Choose This Programme?
Many students pick this course because it is very cheap at just Rs. 6,600 and can be finished in only six months while you keep doing your regular job or studies. Unlike big media courses that only talk about TV and films, this one specifically focuses on community radio which is growing across India. It gives you a recognized certificate from a central university that proves you know how to handle radio equipment and plan daily broadcasts.
Where Does This Programme Help?
After finishing the Certificate in Community Radio, you can work as a Radio Jockey (RJ) or a Programme Assistant at one of the hundreds of community radio stations in India. You can also work as a Communication Officer for organizations like PRADAN, Barefoot College, or various Krishi Vigyan Kendras that use radio to talk to farmers. Some students also use these skills to start their own podcasts or audio news services for their local district or community group.
