About IGNOU DUL – Diploma in Urdu Language
The Diploma in Urdu Language is designed to provide students with a deep understanding of Urdu literature, grammar, and linguistic skills for effective communication. Completing and submitting your assignments on time is absolutely essential because they form a mandatory part of your continuous evaluation. Without successful submission of these tasks, students are not permitted to appear for the Term End Examination (TEE) for the respective courses.
IGNOU DUL Assignments Overview
The evaluation system for the Diploma in Urdu Language is divided into two main parts: continuous evaluation through assignments and the final Term End Examination. In the IGNOU system, assignments carry a significant weightage of 30% toward your final grade or marksheet. This means that performing well in your Tutor Marked Assignments (TMA) can greatly improve your overall percentage and division. For every course in the DUL programme, you are required to submit one comprehensive assignment that covers various aspects of the syllabus. You must ensure that you pass in these assignments separately as per the university’s passing criteria to be considered successful in the course.
Students must be careful about the session they are enrolled in to download the correct question papers. If you are admitted in the January session of 2026, your submission deadlines and question sets will differ from those in the July session of 2026. Usually, assignments remain valid for one full academic cycle consisting of two TEE sessions. If you are unable to submit your work during your primary session, you will need to download the fresh assignments for the subsequent session. Always check the validity period mentioned on the front page of the assignment PDF to ensure you are not working on an outdated question paper.
It is a mandatory requirement that all assignments must be handwritten by the student. IGNOU does not accept typed, printed, or photocopied assignments as they do not reflect the student’s personal effort. Plagiarism, which means copying answers directly from the study material or from another student’s work, is strictly prohibited and can lead to the rejection of your submission. Your Study Centre coordinator will evaluate your work based on your understanding of the subject, the clarity of your Urdu handwriting, and how well you have structured your answers. Originality and personal expression are highly valued in language programmes like this one.

How to Submit IGNOU DUL Assignments
The submission process begins with writing your answers clearly by hand on A4 size paper, preferably ruled sheets to maintain neatness in Urdu script. On the very first page, which is the cover page, you must clearly write your name, enrollment number, full address, programme title (Diploma in Urdu Language), course code, and the name of your Study Centre along with its code. It is vital to double-check these details as any error can lead to your marks not being updated in the system. Once finished, arrange all your answer sheets in the correct sequence according to the question paper.
Most students submit their work physically at their assigned Study Centre where they can get an acknowledgement receipt. However, during certain sessions or at specific Regional Centres, there might be an option for online submission through a dedicated Google Form link or an email portal. Regardless of the method, you must always keep a photocopy or a scanned PDF of your completed assignments for your own records. After submission, it usually takes a few months for the marks to reflect on the IGNOU official website under the assignment status section.
Deadlines are very strict in IGNOU and missing them can delay your degree by six months. For students appearing in the June TEE 2026, the submission deadline is typically in March or April. For those appearing in the December TEE 2026, the deadline is usually in September or October. You should always check the official university notifications for any extensions to these dates. Submitting well before the last date is highly recommended to avoid any last-minute rush or technical issues at the Study Centre.
