About IGNOU CDM – Certificate in Disaster Management
This academic programme provides essential knowledge on identifying risks, managing emergencies, and implementing relief measures during natural or man-made calamities. Completing and submitting assignments on time is mandatory because they act as a continuous evaluation tool that prepares you for the final exams. Without successful assignment submission, students are not permitted to appear for the Term End Examination for this certificate course.
IGNOU CDM Assignments Overview
In the Certificate in Disaster Management programme, assignments are a core part of the curriculum and carry a significant 30% weightage toward your final grade. Every student must submit all the required assignments before the Term End Examination (TEE) starts to be considered eligible for the course. These are technically known as Tutor Marked Assignments (TMA), which are designed to test your understanding of the study material provided by the university. Usually, for the CDM programme, there is one comprehensive assignment for each course code that you have registered for in your session.
The university follows two main academic cycles, which are the January session and the July session. The assignments for 2026 are specific to the cycle in which you are planning to appear for your exams. For example, if you are enrolled in the January session, your assignments will remain valid for the June TEE of 2026. If a student fails to submit their work within the stipulated deadline, they lose the chance to sit for that particular exam cycle and must download the new assignments for the next session to resubmit them.
It is very important to note that IGNOU requires original handwritten work from every student. Plagiarism, which means copying answers directly from books, the internet, or other students, is strictly prohibited in the IGNOU context and can lead to rejection of your work. Your marks are awarded by the Study Centre coordinator based on how well you have explained the concepts in your own words. These marks are then sent to the Regional Centre and eventually updated on the official IGNOU grade card portal for 2026.

How to Submit IGNOU CDM Assignments
To submit your work correctly, you must first write all your answers by hand on A4 size paper, preferably ruled or plain white. You need to carefully fill out the cover page with your enrollment number, name, programme code (CDM), course code, and your specific study centre code. It is a good practice to arrange your answer sheets in the exact order of the questions asked in the assignment paper before you staple or tie them. Make sure your handwriting is legible and neat so that the evaluator can read your answers without any confusion.
There are generally two ways to submit your work: physical submission at your allotted Study Centre or online submission via a dedicated Regional Centre portal. If you choose physical submission, always make sure to collect the submission receipt from the office as it serves as proof of your work. For online submissions, you will need to scan your handwritten pages and upload them as per the instructions provided on your Regional Centre’s website. You can check if your marks are updated on the IGNOU portal about 3 to 4 months after the submission deadline has passed.
For students appearing in the June TEE 2026, the deadline is typically in March or April. For those appearing in the December TEE 2026, the deadline is usually in September or October. However, these dates are often extended by the university, so it is best to keep an eye on official notifications. Missing these deadlines means you will not be able to fill the examination form for the Certificate in Disaster Management courses, which will delay your certification.
How to Prepare IGNOU CDM Assignments
To score high marks, read every question carefully and identify exactly what is being asked. Refer to your Self Learning Material (SLM) to understand the core concepts, but always try to write the final answers in your own words to demonstrate your understanding of disaster management principles.
