About IGNOU Programme Wise Assignments

IGNOU Programme Wise Assignments are dedicated pages for every programme offered across all Schools of Studies. Each programme page provides complete assignment details, submission dates, download links, and guidance specific to that programme.

IGNOU issues Tutor Marked Assignments (TMA) for every course within each registered programme. Assignments carry 25% weightage in the final evaluation and must be submitted before the session deadline — 31st October for the July session and 30th April for the January session.

How IGNOU Programme Wise Assignments Work

IGNOU follows a continuous evaluation system where Tutor Marked Assignments form a compulsory part of every registered programme. Whether you are enrolled in a Certificate, Diploma, Bachelor, or Master programme, you are required to submit one assignment per course registered in that programme for the current session.

Each programme at IGNOU has its own set of courses and therefore its own set of assignments. The assignment question papers are issued by the respective School of Studies and are available on the official IGNOU website as well as on each programme’s dedicated page on this site. Students must answer the questions in their own handwriting, compile the responses, and submit the completed booklet to their allotted Study Centre before the deadline.

The assignment is evaluated by the course tutor assigned to your Study Centre. A score is awarded which contributes 25 marks to the final 100-mark evaluation for each course. You must score at least 50% in the assignment to become eligible to appear in the Term-End Examination for that course in the same session.

It is important to note that assignment question papers change every session. Always download the latest assignment for the current session — January or July — and do not reuse papers from previous sessions.

Key Tips for IGNOU Programme Wise Assignments

  • Download the assignment for the correct session — January or July — from this page or ignou.ac.in.
  • Write answers in your own words. Do not copy directly from the study material.
  • Follow the word limit mentioned for each question in the assignment booklet.
  • Write your Enrollment Number, Programme Code, Course Code and Study Centre Code on the cover page.
  • Download the official assignment cover page from IGNOU Assignment Cover Page.
  • Keep a photocopy of your completed assignment before submitting the original.
  • Always collect an acknowledgement receipt from your Study Centre after submission.
  • Check your submission status at isms.ignou.ac.in within 2 to 4 weeks of submission.

Assignment Submission Deadlines

IGNOU sets fixed deadlines for assignment submission for each session. Missing the deadline makes you ineligible to appear in the Term-End Examination for that course. The general deadlines are:

  • July Session: Submit by 31st October.
  • January Session: Submit by 30th April.

Always verify the exact deadline on the official IGNOU website as dates may vary for certain programmes. Late submission is not accepted under normal circumstances. If you miss the deadline, you must resubmit in the next session before you can appear in the examination.

Difference Between Programme Code and Course Code

A Programme Code refers to the overall degree or certificate you are pursuing such as BCA, MBA, or MARD. A Course Code refers to individual subjects within that programme such as BCSL-044 or BCS-055. For subject-level assignments visit the IGNOU Course Wise Assignments page.
