About IGNOU CPATHA – Certificate in Performing Arts – Theatre Arts
The Certificate in Performing Arts – Theatre Arts provides a strong foundation in dramatic performance, stagecraft, and the cultural history of Indian theatre. Completing and submitting your assignments on time is mandatory because these marks are added to your final marksheet. Without passing your assignments, you will not be allowed to appear for the Term End Examination (TEE) for this certificate programme.
IGNOU CPATHA Assignments Overview
The assessment system for the Certificate in Performing Arts – Theatre Arts is divided into two main parts. First, the assignments carry a 30% weightage toward your final grade. Second, the Term End Examination carries the remaining 70% weightage. You must secure at least the minimum passing marks in these assignments to be successful in the course. In the IGNOU system, these are officially known as Tutor Marked Assignments (TMA). For every theory course in the CPATHA syllabus, you are required to submit one TMA.
IGNOU follows two academic cycles: the January session and the July session. The assignments for 2026 are specifically designed for students appearing in the June and December TEE cycles. It is very important to check the session validity mentioned on the first page of your assignment PDF. If you are enrolled in the January 2026 session, you must submit the version meant for that cycle. If you fail to submit your work before the deadline, your registration for the exam may be cancelled, and you will have to wait for the next session to resubmit.
Every student must submit original, handwritten work to their respective Study Centre. In the IGNOU context, plagiarism means copying answers directly from the textbook or from another student’s work. If the evaluator finds that your answers are not original, they may reject your assignment or give you zero marks. Your marks are awarded by the Study Centre coordinator or a subject expert, who evaluates your understanding of theatre concepts, stage movements, and dramatic theory. These marks are then sent to the Student Evaluation Division at Maidan Garhi for updating your grade card.

How to Submit IGNOU CPATHA Assignments
To submit your work, you must first write down the answers to all questions by hand. Use clean A4 size sheets and leave a margin on the left side for the evaluator’s comments. On the very first page, you must fill in your personal details including your name, enrollment number, and address. Clearly mention the programme code as CPATHA and the specific course code you are submitting. It is a good habit to arrange all the pages in the correct sequence according to the question paper before you staple or tie them.
Most students are required to submit a physical copy of their handwritten assignments at their assigned Study Centre. However, some Regional Centres now allow online submission through a dedicated Google Form or portal link. If you submit offline, always ask for a submission receipt from the Study Centre coordinator and keep it safe until your marks appear on the grade card. You can check your submission status on the official IGNOU website about 2 to 4 months after the submission date.
The deadlines for submission depend on which Term End Exam you are targeting. For the June TEE 2026, the deadline is typically in the months of March or April. For the December TEE 2026, the deadline usually falls in September or October. You should always try to submit your work at least two weeks before the last date to avoid the last-minute rush at the Study Centre.
