About IGNOU CVAA – Certificate in Visual Arts – Applied Arts
This academic programme provides students with essential skills in graphic design, advertising, and commercial illustration through a structured curriculum. Completing and submitting your project work on time is mandatory because these tasks assess your practical understanding before you appear for the final theory exams. Without successful completion of these internal assessments, students cannot clear the overall certification requirements for this visual arts course.
IGNOU CVAA Assignments Overview
For every student enrolled in the Certificate in Visual Arts – Applied Arts, assignments play a major role in the final result. These assignments carry a 30% weightage toward your total marks, while the remaining 70% comes from the Term End Examination (TEE). You must submit all required assignments for your specific courses before the TEE session to become eligible to sit for the exams. These tasks are known as Tutor Marked Assignments (TMA) and are designed to test your creative and theoretical knowledge. For the CVAA programme, you generally need to complete one comprehensive assignment for each course code listed in your registration.
The IGNOU academic cycle is divided into two main sessions: the January session and the July session. Students must ensure they are working on the correct assignment set meant for 2026. For example, if you are appearing for the June 2026 TEE, you must submit the assignments valid for that specific cycle. If a student fails to submit their work within the stipulated deadline, the assignment becomes invalid, and they must download the new set released for the next session. This ensures that the student is always evaluated on the most current curriculum and artistic trends.
Every response you write must be original and handwritten by you personally. IGNOU has a very strict policy against plagiarism, which means you cannot copy text directly from textbooks or from other students’ work. In the context of visual arts, your sketches and designs must also be your own original creation. These assignments are sent to your Study Centre, where a qualified coordinator or evaluator checks your work and awards marks. These marks are then sent to the headquarters to be updated on your official grade card.

How to Submit IGNOU CVAA Assignments
The submission process starts with writing your answers clearly by hand on standard A4 size paper. On the very first page, you must include a detailed cover sheet that contains your enrollment number, full name, programme code (CVAA), course code, and your Study Centre code. It is best to use ruled paper for theory answers and plain sheets for any required artistic drawings or sketches. Once finished, arrange all your answer sheets in the correct sequence according to the question paper before binding them together.
Depending on the instructions from your specific Regional Centre, you can submit your work physically at your Study Centre or online through a dedicated portal. If you are submitting in person, always make sure to collect a written submission receipt from the office staff as proof. This receipt is very important if your marks are not updated on the online portal later. You can monitor your submission status on the official IGNOU website usually 30 to 45 days after the last date of submission has passed.
For the June TEE cycle in 2026, the last date for submission is typically in the months of March or April. For those appearing in the December TEE 2026, the deadline usually falls in September or October. However, these dates are often extended by the university. You should always stay updated with the latest notifications from your Regional Centre to ensure you do not miss the final cutoff for your session.
