About IGNOU BAGS – BA (Gender Studies)
The BA (Gender Studies) programme provides a deep understanding of how gender shapes our society, politics, and daily lives through various cultural and social lenses. This course teaches you to analyze power dynamics and social structures critically while focusing on equality and development. Completing and submitting your assignments on time is absolutely critical because they form the foundation of your internal assessment and are mandatory for appearing in the Term End Examination.
IGNOU BAGS Assignments Overview
In the BA (Gender Studies) programme, assignments play a very important role in your final results. Every course in your BAGS degree requires you to complete one Tutor Marked Assignment (TMA). These assignments carry a 30% weightage toward your total marks for that subject. To be eligible to sit for the final theory exams, you must submit your completed assignments to your study centre and secure passing marks in them. Failure to submit even a single assignment will result in your exam form being rejected or your results being marked as incomplete.
IGNOU students are divided into two academic cycles: the July session and the January session. The assignments for 2026 are specific to the term you are appearing for. For instance, if you are planning to appear in the June 2026 Term End Exam, you must submit assignments meant for the July session of the previous year. If you are appearing for the December 2026 exam, you usually follow the cycle meant for the January 2026 session. If you happen to miss a deadline, you cannot use the old questions; you must download the new assignment set for the next session and submit those instead.
Every student must ensure that their work is entirely handwritten. IGNOU does not accept typed or printed assignments for the BAGS programme unless there is a special disability-related permission. Plagiarism is taken very seriously in the context of Gender Studies; copying word-for-word from textbooks or other students will lead to low marks or rejection. Your Study Centre coordinator will evaluate your answers based on how well you have understood the concepts and how clearly you express your thoughts. The marks you receive are later uploaded to the official IGNOU grade card website.

It is important to download the specific question papers that match your registration year and course codes. How to Submit IGNOU BAGS Assignments
The first step in submission is writing your answers. You should use plain A4 size paper or ruled sheets, whichever you prefer, but keep it consistent. Every assignment must have a proper cover page that clearly mentions your Name, Enrollment Number, BA (Gender Studies) programme code, and the specific Course Code. You should also clearly write your Study Centre name and code at the top. Once finished, arrange all your answer sheets in the correct sequence as per the question paper before stapling or tying them together.
There are two ways to submit your work depending on the instructions from your Regional Centre. Most students submit a physical hard copy at their assigned Study Centre where they receive a stamped acknowledgment slip. However, some Regional Centres allow online submission through Google Forms or a dedicated portal where you must upload a clear scan of your handwritten work. Always keep a photocopy or a clear digital scan of your assignments before submitting them, and save the submission receipt until your marks appear on the IGNOU portal.
Deadlines are very strict for the 2026 sessions. For students appearing in the June 2026 TEE, the submission deadline is usually the end of March or April. For those appearing in the December 2026 TEE, the deadline is typically the end of September or October. These dates can sometimes be extended by the university, so keep checking the official website for any notifications regarding extensions for IGNOU BAGS Assignments.
How to Prepare IGNOU BAGS Assignments
To score well in BA (Gender Studies), you should not just copy from the book. Read the question, understand what it asks about gender roles or social development, and then use the IGNOU study material (SLM) to frame your answer in your own words. Adding real-life examples or current events related to gender issues can help you get better marks.

For Online Submission:
