About IGNOU BAM – Bachelor of Arts (Multidisciplinary)
This academic programme provides a broad understanding of various social science disciplines, helping students develop critical thinking and analytical skills across multiple subjects. Completing and submitting your assignments on time is essential because they are a compulsory part of the curriculum and directly impact your final grades. Without successful submission, you will not be allowed to appear for the Term End Examination (TEE) for your respective courses.
IGNOU BAM Assignments Overview
The Bachelor of Arts (Multidisciplinary) programme requires students to submit Tutor Marked Assignments (TMA) for every course they have registered for. These assignments carry a significant 30% weightage toward your final grade, while the remaining 70% comes from the Term End Examination. This means that scoring well in your assignments can greatly improve your overall percentage and division. For the BAM programme, you usually need to submit one comprehensive assignment for each 4-credit or 6-credit course. These assignments are designed to test your understanding of the study material provided by the university.
IGNOU follows two main admission cycles: the January session and the July session. If you are enrolled in the July session, your assignments for 2026 are typically due in March or April. For those in the January session, the submission deadline usually falls in September or October. It is vital to check the validity mentioned on the assignment question paper for 2026 to ensure you are solving the correct set of questions. If you miss the deadline or fail to submit, you will have to wait for the next session and submit the fresh assignments applicable at that time.
Every student must submit handwritten assignments to their designated Study Centre. IGNOU does not accept typed or printed assignments unless there is a special provision for differently-abled students. Plagiarism, which means copying answers directly from books, websites, or other students’ work, is strictly prohibited and can lead to the rejection of your submission. Your Study Centre coordinator will evaluate your work based on how well you have explained the concepts in your own words. The marks obtained are then sent to the Regional Centre to be updated on the official grade card portal.

Students can easily download the PDF files for their required courses for the 2026 session from the official university repository. It is important to match the course codes on your IGNOU identity card or registration status with the codes listed in the assignment section. Sometimes, the university updates the PDFs in phases, so if you do not see your specific course listed yet, you should check back after a few days. Always ensure that the session mentioned on the cover of the PDF matches your current academic cycle to avoid any evaluation issues later.

How to Submit IGNOU BAM Assignments
To submit your assignments, you must first write down the answers to all questions on A4 size paper. You can use ruled or plain paper, but make sure the handwriting is neat and legible. The very first page of your assignment must be the cover page, which includes your name, enrollment number, address, programme code (BAM), course code, and study centre code. It is a good practice to attach a copy of your IGNOU ID card and the assignment question paper along with your answers. Once ready, tag or staple the sheets securely for each course separately.
Most students submit their handwritten work physically at their assigned Study Centre. You should carry your IGNOU ID card and ask the coordinator for a submission receipt, which acts as proof of your submission. In recent years, some Regional Centres have also started accepting online submissions through Google Forms or dedicated portals. If your centre allows online submission, you must scan your handwritten pages clearly and create a single PDF file for each course. After submission, it usually takes 3 to 5 months for the marks to reflect in your online Grade Card status for 2026.
For the June Term End Examination in 2026, the last date for submission is generally March 31st or April 30th. For the December Term End Examination in 2026, the deadline is usually September 30th or October 31st. IGNOU often extends these deadlines by 15 to 30 days, but it is always better to submit well in advance to avoid last-minute rushes. Keeping a photocopy or a scanned digital copy of your solved assignments is highly recommended for your own records in case the original submission gets lost.
How to Prepare IGNOU BAM Assignments
Start by reading the assignment questions carefully and identify the key topics from your Self Learning Material (SLM). Instead of copying the bookish language, try to summarize the information and write the answers in your own words to score better marks.
