About IGNOU BLISOL – Bachelor of Library and Information Science (Online)
This professional programme teaches modern library management, digital archiving, and information handling techniques in a completely online environment. Successfully completing and submitting your assignments on time is absolutely necessary because they act as the primary requirement for appearing in the Term End Examination. Without clearing these, you cannot complete your degree or improve your final percentage.
IGNOU BLISOL Assignments Overview
For the Bachelor of Library and Information Science (Online) program, assignments are a core part of the continuous evaluation system. These assignments carry 30% weightage toward your final grade in each course. Every student must submit all required assignments before the Term End Examination (TEE) starts to become eligible to sit for the exams. These are technically called Tutor Marked Assignments (TMA), and usually, there is one assignment for every theory and practical course within the BLISOL syllabus. If you score low in these, your overall division in the degree will be negatively impacted.
The assignment cycle depends on whether you are enrolled in the January session or the July session. For the 2026 academic cycle, you must ensure you are downloading the specific set meant for your session. Generally, the January batch students submit in September, while July batch students submit in March. The session validity for 2026 is clearly mentioned on the front page of every PDF. If a student misses the submission deadline, they lose the chance to appear in that specific TEE and must wait for the next session to resubmit their work.
IGNOU is very strict about how you write your answers; only original handwritten work is accepted by the university. Plagiarism, which means copying directly from books, the internet, or other students, is strictly forbidden and can lead to the rejection of your submission. Your marks are awarded by your Study Centre coordinator based on your understanding of the subject and the clarity of your presentation. Always aim to write in your own language to show the examiner that you have grasped the concepts of library science effectively.

How to Submit IGNOU BLISOL Assignments
The submission process starts with preparing your answer sheets. You must write your answers by hand on A4 size paper, preferably using ruled sheets for better presentation. Before you start writing, prepare a clear cover page that includes your enrollment number, name, programme code (BLISOL), course code, and study centre code. Once you finish writing, arrange all the answer sheets in the correct sequence of the questions before finally submitting them. This ensures that the person checking your file does not get confused.
There are two main ways to submit your work depending on the instructions from your Regional Centre. Some centres require physical submission at your Study Centre, where you get a manual receipt. Others allow online submission via a dedicated Google Form or the Regional Centre portal. After submitting, always collect and keep the submission receipt safe. You can check if your marks are updated on the IGNOU portal by visiting the Assignment Status link after approximately 3 to 4 months of submission.
Deadlines are very crucial in the IGNOU system. For the June TEE 2026, the deadline is typically in March or April. For the December TEE 2026, the deadline is usually in September or October. However, these dates are often extended by the university. You should keep an eye on the official website notifications so that you do not miss the last date. Submitting late might result in you not being allowed to fill out the exam form.
How to Prepare IGNOU BLISOL Assignments
To score high marks, you should approach your assignments with a plan. Read the questions very carefully and refer to your Self Learning Material (SLM) to find the core points, then write the answers in your own words to avoid plagiarism.
