About IGNOU Course Wise Study Material
IGNOU Self-Learning Material (SLM) is the primary study resource for every course in the university’s distance education system. Each block of study material is carefully designed by subject experts to help students learn independently without attending regular classes.
Every course is divided into multiple blocks, and each block is further divided into units. Each unit follows a structured format that includes an introduction, learning objectives, the main content, in-text activities, let us sum up, and a terminal questions section. This structure is intentional — it is designed so that students can self-assess their understanding at every stage without needing a classroom environment.
Study material is available in both printed and digital formats. The digital version can be downloaded free of charge from eGyankosh, the national digital repository maintained by IGNOU. Printed material is dispatched to students at their registered address after admission, though digital download remains the fastest and most reliable way to access your blocks.
📥 How to Download IGNOU Course Wise Study Material
Use the search box above to find your course by code and click the Download button. You can also access study material directly from eGyankosh or the official IGNOU portal. Below is a step-by-step guide to downloading from eGyankosh.
Step 1 — Visit eGyankosh. Go to egyankosh.ac.in. This is the official national digital repository maintained by IGNOU and contains study material for every course across all programmes.
Step 2 — Search by course code. Use the search bar on the eGyankosh homepage and enter your exact course code, for example BEVAE-181 or MHI-01. Make sure you enter the code exactly as it appears in your admission letter, including hyphens. Incorrect codes will return no results.
Step 3 — Select the correct collection. eGyankosh organises material by School and Programme. After searching, click on your course name to open the collection. You will see a list of blocks — for example Block 1, Block 2, Block 3 — corresponding to the units in your syllabus.
Step 4 — Download individual blocks as PDF. Click on any block to open it. You will find a download option to save the PDF to your device. It is recommended to download all blocks at the start of your session so you have offline access throughout your preparation period.
Step 5 — Organise for offline study. Save each block in a folder named after the course code on your device. This makes it easy to locate the right block quickly when you are preparing for assignments or the Term-End Examination. Many students also find it useful to print key units rather than reading entirely on screen.
