About IGNOU DIPP – Diploma in Paralegal Practice
This professional course provides foundational knowledge in legal procedures, documentation, and the Indian judicial system to help individuals work as legal assistants. Completing and submitting your Tutor Marked Assignments on time is essential because they are a compulsory component for qualifying for the Term End Examination. Without a successful assignment submission, you will not be allowed to appear for the final exams or receive your diploma certificate.
IGNOU DIPP Assignments Overview
The evaluation system for the Diploma in Paralegal Practice is divided into two main parts. The first part consists of continuous evaluation through assignments, which carry a significant 30% weightage toward your final grade. The remaining 70% comes from your performance in the theory exams. You must submit all required assignments before the start of the Term End Examination (TEE) to become eligible to sit for the test. Every course in the DIPP curriculum requires you to complete one Tutor Marked Assignment (TMA) which tests your understanding of the study material provided by the university.
IGNOU operates in two admission cycles every year, and the assignment questions change accordingly. For students enrolled in the January session, the assignments must be submitted by the end of March or April. For those in the July session, the submission period usually falls in September or October. It is vital to check the validity of the assignment booklet for 2026 to ensure you are solving the correct set of questions. If a student misses the deadline for a specific session, they must download the new assignments for the next session and resubmit them to remain eligible for the exam.
When writing your assignments, remember that IGNOU strictly requires original handwritten work. The university values your personal understanding of the legal concepts taught in the Diploma in Paralegal Practice. Plagiarism, which means copying answers directly from the textbooks, websites, or other students’ work, is strictly prohibited and can lead to the rejection of your submission. Your work is evaluated by the Study Centre coordinator, and the marks are then sent to the Regional Centre for updating your official grade card. Quality work that reflects your own perspective is more likely to fetch higher marks.

How to Submit IGNOU DIPP Assignments
The submission process starts with writing your answers clearly by hand on A4 size paper. You can use ruled or plain sheets, but make sure the writing is legible and neat. On the very first page, which is the cover page, you must clearly write your name, enrollment number, full address, programme code (DIPP), course code, and your Study Centre code. Once you have finished writing all the answers, arrange the sheets in the correct sequence according to the question paper before binding them together.
Depending on the instructions from your specific Regional Centre, you may need to submit your assignments physically at your Study Centre or upload them online through a dedicated portal. If you are submitting in person, always make sure to collect a written submission receipt from the office staff as proof of your submission. This receipt is very important if your marks do not show up on the online grade card later. For online submissions, keep a copy of the final PDF and the confirmation email sent by the system.
The deadlines for submission depend on which Term End Examination you are planning to attend. For the June TEE 2026, the deadline is typically in the months of March or April. For the December TEE 2026, the deadline is usually in the months of September or October. It is always a good idea to complete your work at least two weeks before the official last date to avoid the last-minute rush at the Study Centres or technical glitches on the online portals.
