About IGNOU DWED – Diploma in Women’s Empowerment and Development
This academic programme provides students with a deep understanding of gender issues, social justice, and the practical tools needed to promote equality in society. Completing and submitting assignments on time is mandatory because they serve as a continuous evaluation tool that prepares you for the final exams. Without successful completion of these tasks, you will not be allowed to appear for your term-end examinations or receive your final diploma.
IGNOU DWED Assignments Overview
The evaluation system at Indira Gandhi National Open University is divided into two main parts. The assignments carry 30% weightage toward the final grade, while the Term End Examination carries the remaining 70%. For the Diploma in Women’s Empowerment and Development, students must submit a Tutor Marked Assignment (TMA) for every course included in the curriculum. These assignments are designed to test your understanding of the study material provided by the university and ensure you are keeping up with the syllabus throughout the semester.
IGNOU operates in two admission cycles: January and July. The assignment you need to solve depends on the year you took admission and the specific TEE cycle you are appearing for. For the 2026 academic session, students must ensure they are using the latest question papers released by the School of Gender and Development Studies. If a student fails to submit their work within the specified deadline, they become ineligible for that session’s exams and must resubmit the assignments in the next session to regain eligibility.
Every student is required to submit original, handwritten work for their courses. In the IGNOU context, plagiarism or copying from other students is strictly prohibited and can lead to the cancellation of your marks. Your Study Centre coordinator is responsible for evaluating your answers and awarding marks based on how well you have explained the concepts in your own words. It is always better to write simple and clear answers rather than copying complex text from books that you do not fully understand.

How to Submit IGNOU DWED Assignments
The submission process starts with carefully writing your answers by hand on A4 size paper. Plain white paper or ruled paper can be used, but handwritten work is a strict requirement. Before you submit, you must fill out a cover page that includes your name, enrollment number, programme code (DWED), course code, and your Study Centre code. Make sure you arrange all the answer sheets in the correct sequence as per the question paper so the evaluator can check them easily.
Depending on the instructions from your Regional Centre, you may need to submit your work physically at your allotted Study Centre or upload scanned copies online. If you are submitting in person, always ask for a submission receipt from the coordinator, as this is your only proof of submission. After a few months, you can check the official IGNOU portal to see if your marks have been updated in your Grade Card or assignment status section.
Deadlines are very important to keep in mind for a smooth academic journey. For students appearing in the June TEE 2026, the deadline is typically in March or April. For those appearing in the December TEE 2026, the deadline is usually in September or October. Always keep an eye on the official website for any extensions to these dates, as IGNOU often provides extra time for students to finish their work comfortably.
How to Prepare IGNOU DWED Assignments
To score high marks, you should start by reading the questions multiple times to understand what is being asked. Use the Self Learning Material (SLM) provided by the university as your primary reference, but try to frame the answers in your own words to demonstrate your understanding.
