About IGNOU MAFL – Master of Arts (French)
This advanced postgraduate programme focuses on developing high-level proficiency in French language, literature, and cultural history. Completing and submitting your assignments on time is absolutely essential because they serve as a mandatory prerequisite for appearing in the Term End Examination (TEE) for each course. Without a passing grade in these assignments, students cannot complete their Master of Arts (French) degree requirements.
IGNOU MAFL Assignments Overview
In the IGNOU system, assignments are a vital part of the continuous evaluation process for students. For the Master of Arts (French) programme, these assignments carry a significant weightage of 30% toward your final grade. This means that the marks you score in your Tutor Marked Assignments (TMA) are added to the marks you get in your final exams to determine your overall result. For every course in the MAFL curriculum, a student is required to complete and submit one comprehensive assignment to their respective Study Centre. These tasks are designed to test your understanding of the course material and your ability to express complex ideas in the French language.
Students enrolled in the January session and the July session must be careful about which assignment they are solving. For the 2026 academic cycle, you must ensure that you are using the question papers specifically released for your admission session. Typically, assignments have a validity period of one year or two semesters. If you miss the deadline for submission in a particular TEE cycle, you will have to download the updated assignment for the next session and submit it afresh. It is always better to submit your work early to avoid last-minute technical or administrative hurdles at your Study Centre.
IGNOU places a very high value on the authenticity of a student’s work. All Master of Arts (French) assignments must be handwritten by the student themselves. Copying from another student or submitting printed/typed materials is strictly prohibited and can lead to the rejection of your submission. Plagiarism, which means copying directly from books or the internet without paraphrasing, is also considered a serious academic offense. Your Study Centre coordinator will evaluate your work based on your original thought, clarity of expression in French, and how well you have covered the topics mentioned in the question paper.

How to Submit IGNOU MAFL Assignments
The first step in the submission process is to write your answers clearly by hand on A4 size ruled or plain paper. You must prepare a separate file or bundle for each course in the Master of Arts (French) programme. On the front page of every assignment, clearly mention your name, enrollment number, programme code (MAFL), course code, and your Study Centre code. It is very important to arrange your answer sheets in the correct sequence as per the questions asked in the PDF. Make sure you leave some margin on the sides for the evaluator to write their comments.
Depending on the instructions from your Regional Centre, you can either submit your work physically or online. For physical submission, visit your assigned Study Centre and hand over the hard copies to the coordinator. Don’t forget to collect a submission receipt, as this is your only proof of submission. For online submission, you will need to scan your handwritten pages and upload them via a Google Form or a dedicated portal link provided on your Regional Centre’s website. Always check the marks status on the IGNOU Grade Card portal after 3 to 4 months of submission.
Deadlines are critical for appearing in the Term End Exams. For the June TEE 2026, the submission deadline is usually around March or April 2026. For those appearing in the December TEE 2026, the deadline is typically in September or October 2026. However, IGNOU often extends these dates by a few weeks, so keep an eye on the official website for notifications. Missing the deadline means you cannot sit for that specific course exam, and you will have to submit it in the next cycle.
