About IGNOU MAUD – M.A. Urdu
This postgraduate programme provides a deep understanding of Urdu literature, linguistics, and the cultural history associated with the language. It covers classical and modern poetry, prose, and literary criticism to help students master the nuances of Urdu. Completing and submitting assignments on time is essential because they are a compulsory component for clearing the Term End Examination and earning your degree.
IGNOU MAUD Assignments Overview
In the M.A. Urdu programme, assignments play a major role in your final results. These assignments carry a 30% weightage toward your final grade in every course. To be eligible for the Term End Examination (TEE), you must submit all your assignments at your Study Centre. Each course in the MAUD curriculum has one Tutor Marked Assignment (TMA) that you need to solve. If you do not pass the assignment part, you will not be declared successful in that specific course, even if you score well in the written exam.
IGNOU conducts exams twice a year, in June and December. If you are a student of the July session, your assignments for 2026 are typically due in March or April. If you belong to the January session, your submission deadline falls in September or October of 2026. It is important to check the validity mentioned on your assignment PDF. If you miss the deadline for the current cycle, you will have to wait for the next session’s assignment questions and resubmit them to remain eligible for the exams.
Every student is required to submit original handwritten work. IGNOU does not accept typed or printed assignments for the M.A. Urdu programme. Plagiarism, which means copying answers directly from other students or market-bought solved papers, can lead to rejection or zero marks. Your Study Centre coordinator will evaluate your work based on how well you have understood the topics. Good presentation and unique writing styles often result in higher marks, which eventually helps in improving your overall percentage in the marksheet.

How to Submit IGNOU MAUD Assignments
The submission process starts with writing your answers clearly by hand on A4 size paper. You should use ruled or plain white sheets as per your preference, but ensure the handwriting is legible. On the first page, you must fill in your personal details including your enrollment number, name, full address, programme code (MAUD), course code, and the name of your Study Centre. Organizing your answer sheets in the correct sequence of the question paper is very important for a smooth evaluation process.
Most students submit their work physically at their assigned Study Centre. When you go there, make sure to submit it to the Urdu department coordinator and collect a submission receipt. This receipt is your only proof of submission if your marks are not updated later. Some Regional Centres also allow online submission via a dedicated Google Form or portal link. You should check your specific Regional Centre website to see if they are accepting digital copies for the 2026 session. Once submitted, it usually takes a few months for the marks to reflect on the IGNOU Grade Card portal.
For the June TEE 2026, the deadline is usually March 31st or April 30th depending on extensions. For the December TEE 2026, the deadline is usually September 30th or October 31st. Since IGNOU often extends these dates, students should stay updated with the latest notifications on the main website. However, it is always better to submit at least 15 days before the last date to avoid the last-minute rush at the Study Centres.
