About IGNOU PGDDVS – Post Graduate Diploma in Development Studies
This course teaches you how to study and help improve the living conditions of people in different communities. It covers how money, politics, and social rules affect how a village or city grows. You will learn how to plan projects that help people get better jobs, health, and education.
Who Should Choose This Programme?
If you have finished your college degree and want to work for a non-profit group or a government welfare office, this course is for you. It is a great fit for people who are already working in villages or small towns and want a formal certificate to get a promotion. If you plan to work as a social worker or a researcher who tracks how well government schemes are working, you should join this diploma. It is also helpful for people who want to understand why some regions stay poor while others get rich.
Why Do Students Choose This Programme?
Many students pick this course because it is much cheaper than doing a regular management degree but still teaches important skills for the social sector. Since it is a distance learning course, you can keep doing your current job or stay at home while you study. The diploma is well-known across India, which helps when applying for government projects or jobs in big NGOs. Another reason is that after finishing this, you can directly enter the second year of the Master’s degree in the same subject at IGNOU.
Where Does This Programme Help?
This diploma helps you get jobs in places like NABARD, the Ministry of Rural Development, or international groups like UNICEF and UNDP. You can work as a Block Development Officer, a Project Assistant, or a Field Researcher. Many graduates find work in the CSR departments of big companies like Tata or Reliance, where they manage projects for local communities. It also helps if you want to start your own NGO or work as a consultant for city planning and rural health missions.
