About IGNOU PGDT – Post Graduate Diploma in Translation
This programme provides professional training in translation between Hindi and English, covering various aspects of linguistic theory and practical translation techniques. Submitting your assignments on time is essential because they form a mandatory part of your evaluation and are a prerequisite for appearing in the Term End Examination. Without successful submission, students cannot complete the Post Graduate Diploma in Translation and will face delays in receiving their final certificate.
IGNOU PGDT Assignments Overview
For every student enrolled in the Post Graduate Diploma in Translation, assignments are a crucial component of the grading system. These assignments carry a 30% weightage toward your final grade, while the theory exams account for the remaining 70%. In the IGNOU system, these are called Tutor Marked Assignments (TMA) because they are evaluated by the academic counselors at your study centre. For the PGDT programme, you are generally required to complete one comprehensive assignment for each course module in the curriculum. You must ensure that you pass these assignments to be eligible to sit for the final examinations.
The validity of assignments depends on your admission cycle, whether you joined in the January session or the July session of 2026. If you are appearing for the June Term End Exam, you must submit the assignments released for that specific cycle. Similarly, those appearing for the December exam must follow the deadlines for the second half of the year. If a student misses the submission deadline for 2026, their current assignment becomes invalid, and they must download the new set of assignments released for the next session. This keeps the coursework fresh and aligned with any syllabus updates.
It is non-negotiable that all work must be handwritten by the student themselves. IGNOU places a heavy emphasis on academic integrity, and plagiarism—which means copying from other students or directly from books—is strictly prohibited. Your answers should reflect your own understanding of the translation principles taught in the study material. Once submitted, your Study Centre coordinator or an appointed evaluator will check your work and award marks based on the quality of your translation and the clarity of your explanations. These marks are then updated on the official grade card after a few months.

Students can easily download the assignment question paper PDFs for the 2026 academic session from the university’s central repository. It is very important to verify that the PDF you download matches your current enrollment year and session. Usually, the front page of the assignment PDF clearly mentions the session for which it is valid. If you find that the specific course assignment for your PGDT module is not yet uploaded, don’t worry, as the university updates these files periodically throughout the semester.
Always download from the official source:
IGNOU Official Assignments Portal.

How to Submit IGNOU PGDT Assignments
To submit your work correctly, you must first write out all your answers by hand on A4 size paper, preferably using ruled sheets for better presentation. Every individual course assignment must have its own dedicated cover page. This cover page should be filled out completely with your enrollment number, name, full address, programme code (PGDT), course code, and your study centre code. Once the answers are finished, arrange all the sheets in the correct sequence according to the question paper before binding them together.
Depending on the instructions from your specific Regional Centre, you may need to perform a physical submission at your Study Centre or an online submission via a dedicated portal. For physical submissions, always carry your IGNOU Identity Card and ensure you collect a submission receipt from the office staff. This receipt is your only proof of submission if your marks are not updated later. You can regularly check the IGNOU status portal to see if your assignment marks have been processed and reflected in your grade card.
The deadlines for submission are strictly followed by the university. For students appearing in the June TEE 2026, the deadline is typically in the months of March or April. For students appearing in the December TEE 2026, the deadline is usually set around September or October. It is always better to submit your work at least two weeks before the final date to avoid the last-minute rush and technical issues at the study centres.
How to Prepare IGNOU PGDT Assignments
Preparation requires a systematic approach; start by reading the question paper thoroughly to understand what is being asked. Always refer to your IGNOU Self Learning Material (SLM) to form the base of your answers, but try to write the final response in your own words to demonstrate your grasp of the subject.
